Abstract: The use of remote sensing techniques is becoming increasingly important in different fields because it gives detailed and specific data with wide and precision provision. During recent decades the adoption of remote sensing techniques offers a large advancement for agricultural fields in terms of sustainability, effectiveness, resilience and quantifiability. The present article reviews the important contribution of different remote sensing techniques for olive plantations in Tunisian arid lands, with main focus to the southern part of the country. The authors collected approaches currently available in olive groves and emphasizing their advantages in the enhancement of olive production process, natural resources use and management of yield and final products quality, by providing implementation scenario in Gabes region, Matmata.
